Introducing the New CloudScaleLink THOR & ODIN Modules

We are excited to announce the release of the new generation CloudScaleLink THOR & ODIN modules. This upgrade is the result of direct feedback from our customers, system integrators, and scale technicians — with a clear goal: simpler installation, broader compatibility, and cleaner integration.

What’s New

UART Communication Support

In addition to RS-232 and RS-485, the new CloudScaleLink modules now support UART. This allows connectivity with a wider range of weighing instruments and embedded systems that do not provide traditional serial interfaces.

Dedicated Support for Ohaus Scales

We are introducing CloudScaleLink models specifically designed for Ohaus scales, expanding our portfolio with native support for:

Defender series indicators
SKX / STX compact scales

These models allow easy upgrades of existing indicators with Ethernet, WiFi, or Bluetooth BLE connectivity. The CloudScaleLink module can be installed inside the indicator housing, keeping the installation clean and eliminating the need for external adapters or additional cables.

For stainless steel indicators, we recommend choosing the version with an external antenna to ensure optimal WiFi and Bluetooth signal strength.

Screw Terminal Connections

Soldering is no longer required. All signal and power connections are now handled via screw terminal blocks, allowing fast and reliable installation using only a screwdriver. This significantly simplifies field upgrades and custom cable installations.

Upgrading a 2003 Axle Scale: A Modern Solution for Scrapyards

Got an Old Scale? Worried You’ll Have to Buy a New One in order to digitalize? Don’t as Scale Monitor is the Solution!

A customer had an axle scale dating back to 2003. They were hesitant about upgrading, worried that the costs would be so high they’d have no choice but to invest in a completely new scale. However, we were able to offer a much more affordable solution with Scale Monitor.

The customer needed the following from the upgrade:

In/out weighing capabilities
Multilingual support
Extra fields for custom data
Integration with custom databases
A dedicated button to control the road barrier
Customized weighing tickets
System-wide integration across all scrapyards, regardless of the scale manufacturer, with full ERP integration

While this list might seem daunting, we completed the entire upgrade in just two hours. Here’s what we did:

Added the protocol for the old axle scale
Developed a customized virtual indicator with extra fields
Set up custom databases
Created a landscape-oriented A4 weighing report
Integrated a special button to control the road barrier

The best part? The customer didn’t need to buy a new scale! Instead, Scale Monitor brought their old scale back to life at a fraction of the expected cost.

Supported connections and devices

Scale Monitor supports following connections with a scale:

USB, RS-232 or RS-485 – limited to Windows devices
Bluetooth LE – limited to Android and Windows devices
CloudScaleLink – supports all devices

We often get question when do we need CloudScaleLink module?

CloudScaleLink is essential when you want Ethernet or WiFi connection with scale or you need to connect with your scale from any device.

You need CloudScaleLink module in the following scenarios:

Ethernet/WiFi Connectivity:
- If you want to connect your scale over Ethernet or WiFi rather than using a USB, RS-232, or Bluetooth connection. Unfortunatly, if scale already has Ethernet/WIFI interface you can not use it due to the lack of support for cloud protocol MQTT which is required for Scale Monitor connection.
Any device access:
- CloudScaleLink enables remote access to your scale, allowing you to monitor and manage it via web browser no matter which operating system you are using. When you connect scale via CloudScaleLink module you can access this scale from Android devices, Mac and iOS devices, Windows devices, Linux/Unix even from smart TV that has web browsers.
Integration with Cloud Services:
- If you require integration with cloud-based applications and services for data logging, analysis, or reporting. CloudScaleLink facilitates seamless communication between your scale and cloud platforms such as Scale Monitor, enabling advanced data management and analytics capabilities.
Enhanced Monitoring and Control:
